2021 Parcel Rate Increases

As of January 24th, USPS rates increased for 2021, so we thought it would be helpful to provide some resources around industry-wide rate increases. New year, new shipping rates. Right? As can be expected, 2021 brought increased rates for FedEx, UPS, and USPS.

Here at Pacejet, we want to help you understand what increases have occurred, where to find the most up-to-date information, and how to still maintain an ROI on your shipping strategy in 2021.

Rate changes for USPS, FedEx, and UPS below:

USPS - effective January 24th, 2021 

Click the link above to see the most up-to-date fee charts for the USPS rate increases that may impact your business. Here are a few key increases to note:

  • Priority Mail Express will increase by an average of 1.2%

  • Priority Mail will increase by an average of 3.5%

  • Small Flat-Rate Box will increase by 1.8%

  • Medium Flat-Rate Box will increase by 2.9%

  • Large Flat-Rate Box will increase by 3.8%

  • First-Class Mail Forever stamps will remain at $.55


 

FedEx - First changes effective January 4th, 2021 

Click the headline linked above for the most up-to-date fee charts that took effect for FedEx customers earlier this month. For a quick overview of some of the impacted shipment styles, see below:

    • FedEx Express and FedEx Ground will increase by an average of 4.9%

    • FedEx Freight FXF PZONE and EZONE will increase by an average of 4.9%

    • FedEx Freight FXF 1000 and 501 will increase by an average of 5.9%

    • Look out for changes to FedEx surcharges and minimums

    • A late fee will be charged for U.S. FedEx Express and FedEx Ground invoices not paid according to approved payment terms

 


 

UPS - Effective December 27th, 2020 

UPS fee increases have been live for about a month at this time. Click the link above to see the most up-to-date fee charts for UPS. How are these fees impacting your spend? 

    • The rates for UPS Ground, Air, and International services will increase an average of 4.9%

    • Value-Added services and other charges will increase

    • Additional Handling charges will be applied to any package with its length plus girth combined exceeding 105 inches

    • Effective April 11, 2021, Additional Handling and Large Package Surcharge rates for non-Hundredweight Service packages will differ by zone, and effective July 11, 2021, Additional Handling and Large Package Surcharge rates for Hundredweight Service packages will differ by zone
