If you have recently been upgraded to the latest version of the Pacejet cloud shipping software you may want to take a closer look at the Favorites and Templates feature areas in the new platform. Both areas offer some interesting new tools to make common end-user activities more convenient and more automated. Although the features are fairly straightforward in operation, there are a couple of areas of integration into shipping activities worth noting.

Use Favorites as Links to Shipping Resources
The new favorites area provides an account-level administration of links or shortcuts to resources users can setup and maintain. Pacejet favorites stay within the context of the application and end-user account, so they stay with users wherever they login and use the application. The links setup in favorites can also be to both internal Pacejet pages or resources or to external resources and help pages, so users can organize common shipping resources in one place and have them handy whenever they are needed.
One extra useful feature of Pacejet Favorites is the capability to include dynamic Pacejet resource links as part of a favorite. For example, you can save a favorite link to the shipping workbench "Today" tab which allows you to activate the workbench and automatically use that "saved search" when the page is loaded. Another example is to create a link to a commonly used Template, so when you click a favorite the Rate and Ship page is automatically loaded with a new shipment and filled out with all the details from your template.
Use Templates to Automate Shipping Data Setup
The templates feature has been around in Pacejet for quite some time but was overhauled in the latest version to be more complete, offer easier access, and integrate into more activities in the application. The basic idea behind a template is to save a common set of shipping data that you might normally enter manually on the Rate and Ship page "under a name" so the template can be used to pre-load that data at a later time. You can create templates for miscellaneous or manual shipments to customers or between locations, create templates for common freight quote scenarios, or just about any other reason you can think of for your daily shipping or quoting needs. Templates can be added to favorites or are accessible via drop-down on the Rate and Ship page.
Templates are useful as a quick way to preload various types of data, including Ship From, Ship To, containers, services, and other information. They are most often used as a starting point for non-ERP integrated shipments, however, there are an increasing number of integrated processing areas where templates have an additional useful purpose. For example, a default template can be used as orders are transmitted to Pacejet as a way to default or add-in data that an ERP has not transmitted or does not have available. Another use that will be available in the upcoming 15.1 release of Pacejet (more on that in an upcoming blog posting) will be the option of creating a template which is then used to apply a set of shipping detail to an entire group of shipments in one step.
